In the vastness of the World of Rotary International there is one place which can be
aptly described as "a congenial spot", to paraphrase a ditty of a well-known Broadway
musical. It is known as the Rotary Club of Marikina West or popularly known as the
"GOLDEN WEST."
The Rotary Club of Marikina initiated preparatory activities culminating in the first
official acts of the Golden West club through the election of its first set of
officers and directors and its constitution and by-laws adopted. Chartering of the
new club came as a matter of course and on June 28, 1984, the Rotary Club of
Marikina West was born. The birth of the club gave new meaning to the lives of
the twenty-eight (28) charter members and a deeper perspective to their understanding of
fellowship, goodwill and commitment to service.
