100 Sapatos Para sa 100 Taon ng Rotary - Twin Project of RCMW and RC Metro Kalibo, Aklan

In celebration of Rotary’s 100 years, the Rotary Club of Marikina West turned-over to the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo a total of 100 pairs of brand new children’s shoes to benefit the less privileged school children of Aklan province.

Dubbed as “100 Sapatos Para Sa 100 Taon Ng Rotary”, this joint project was launched in August last year and was successfully completed on January 24, 2005.

In simple turn-over ceremonies last Monday during the Golden West’s regular club meeting at the Club Filipino, IP Rodelle Bolante and Sec. Megs Lunn, project chairpersons of RC Marikina West and RC Metro Kalibo respectively, led the ceremonial turn-over and acceptance of the donation.

The 100 pairs of shoes were solicited by RC Marikina from the shoe manufacturer’s association of Marikina City through the initiative of Marikina City Councilor and IPP Bojie Bernardino.

In his President’s message, Centennial President Boyet Sacro praised the leadership of both RC Marikina West and RC Metro Kalibo for a very successful project. Pres. Boyet said that this project made the celebration of Rotary’s 100 Years more significant.

Pres. Boyet also gave recognition to the valuable contribution and dedication of the individuals who made this joint project a huge success – Centennial Pres. Tony Tabang and Sec. Megs Lunn of RC Metro Kalibo, IP Rodelle Bolante, Sec. Radian Fantone and City Councilor & IPP Bojie Bernardino of the Rotary Club of Marikina West.
