Last 9 July 2006, the Rotaract Club of Marikina West attended the annual
Rotaract District Assembly - ROTASEMBLEA 2006. Held at the Club Filipino in
San Juan, the activity ushered in the new Rotaract Year 2006-07 with the theme
"Lead The Way". It also commemorated the turnover of District Rotaract Representative
responsibilities of IDRR Edwin Mendiola to DRR Catherine Deang. Rotaract Club
Presidents who were in attendance were also formally inducted during the activity
with District Governor James Dee presiding over the induction.
After a hefty lunch, the attendees were divided into Solidarity Groups representing
the following: Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers/Finance Directors, Club Service
Directors, Community Service Directors, International Directors / Vice-Presidents,
Professional Development Directors, New Rotaractors and Rotaract Chairman. Each
group had a speaker who led discussions covering a variety of topics for. These
topics included Conduction Effective Meetings, Allocating and Raising Funds,
Professionalism, Membership Development Strategies, among others. A member from
each group was asked to share with the assembly the learnings they gathered during
the group discussions.
After the discussions, DRR Catherine Deang reminded the assembly of the upcoming
Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference 2006, which will be held in the Philippines.
She reiterated the district's commitment to send at least 50 members to the assembly.
Special guests included DG James Dee, DRC Samson Tocino, as well as other Rotarians
from the Rotary Clubs of Wack-Wack and Caloocan North. Said event was co-organized
by the RAC Caloocan North and Little Baguio. Rotaractors of Marikina West present
were: Michelle Duhan, Joy Belarmino, Jun Labrador and Jericho Barcelon.
