Announcement of Winners

The eight (8) Rotary Clubs of the Marikina Zone announced last Monday, September 27, the winners for this year’s search for the Most Outstanding Public Servants.

The winners were announced in formal ceremonies held after the weekly flag raising ceremonies of the Marikina City local government. No less than the well-loved mayor of Marikina City, Mayor Marides C. Fernando led the awarding ceremonies.

The winners in each category were introduced by the D3800 MOPS Chairperson, PP Estelito “Lito” Mendoza. The winners were also given certificates of recognition from the Rotary Club that led the search in their respective categories.

Centennial President Ronaldo “Boyet” Sacro of the Rotary Club of Marikina West assisted by IPP & City Councilor Serafin “Bojie” Bernardino awarded the certificate of recognition to Barangay Tanod/Security Officer Michael Santos of Barangay Marikina Heights. Mayor Marides Fernando in her keynote speech gave tribute to the winners of this year’s search and at the same time challenged the other public servants to rise above their everyday work and be part of the elite club of MOPS awardees. The Mayor also said that she is always proud of working with the best public servants of the country – the public servants of Marikina City.

Later that evening MOPS Barangay Tanod category winner Michael Santos was formally introduced to the members of the Rotary Club of Marikina West during the club’s regular weekly meeting at the Club Filipino.

In simple ceremonies during the club meeting, Mr. Santos also received from the Rotary Club of Marikina West a financial award of PhP 5,000.00 for winning this year’s MOPS.

For his part Mr. Santos expressed his appreciation to the club and its leadership for choosing him as this year’s winner. He also promised to continue his loyal service to the people of Marikina City.
