4th Leg of the R.I. District 3800 Golf Tournament

Venue: Canlubang Golf and Country Club
Date: January 13, 2006

To say that the 4th Leg of the district golf tournament was successful is indeed an understatement. Although it was a very long day (the members and anns left Provident Village at 4:45 am and came back around 9:30pm), the experience of hosting the most well-attended golf leg in the district was more than enough to lift our tired spirits.

With more than 150 golfers playing that day, including DG Mickey Ortigas, the Anns were frantically accepting payments, issuing receipts and handing out giveaways (a golf cap with the RI Logo and "RC Marikina West" embroidered at the back, bottled water and hopia). Some registered as early as 6:30am but because of the long queue of golers, registration lasted until 8am.

Seven long hours later, most of the golfers finished their game and the awarding ceremonies began at around 4pm. PP Jun Bohol gamely assumed the role of emcee with the Anns and members taking turns raffling-off the 60 plus consolation prizes and 12 major prizes. The division and team winners were also awarded during the program with our very own VP Dino bagging a team medal for the Marikina Zone.

With the sumptous meal, the raffle prizes, and the endless stream of free coffee, iced tea and iced coffee, the weary golfers were immediately refreshed and everybody went home happy and satisfied despite Canlubang's treacherous fairways. This prompted RC Taytay Tres Escalon to announce during the program that they hope to emulate Marikina West's preparations for their hosting of the 5th leg.
